Introduction
Fused Silica is made of high purity Quartz Sand by electrically fused in Electric Arc Furnaces, then the Crystalline Quartz Sand transformed into Amorphous Silicon Dioxide. Fused Silica has an extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion and a very low thermal conductivity, high resistance to thermal shock as well as excellent chemical stability .
Fused Silica is widely used in areas of electronics, electrical apparatus, chemical industry, special micro motor, sealing of transistor and semi-conductor components, insulation casting of current transformer, voltage transformer, electronic transformer and dry-type transformer, epikote casting of high-tension cable connection, high-voltage insulator, high-voltage switch, insulation pipes and components of high-voltage electrical apparatus. The Fused Silica is also used in electric welding industry as protection coating. In addition, it acts well as epoxy powder coating and as the filling materials for arc resistant and weathering resistant surface painting. As the filling material for epikote, the micro fused silica powder applies to both large-scale components and small-scale precise electrical components.
